First Impression: My first impression was “Isn’t this one of Gillian’s layouts?” Don’t ask me why I know haha. I’m a dork. But anyway, I’m sure you have a reason as to why you didn’t make your own. Then, I realized that your site is not a resource site. It’s a personal blog, or at least that’s what I’m getting out of it? I think I remember your old site and for some reason I remember you being a resource site. If you’re still trying to get your content up that’s fine. For now I’m going to leave the “Layout” portion out of this as it was not made by you.
Site Name: It’s an interesting site name. I think you should add a section about how you came to the name. (That is, if you picked it out. I know sometimes the person gives you a domain that already has name) I mean, it could have been a little bit more creative but it works and it is easy to remember.
Organization: Your site seems nicely organized. You could maybe organize the icons in your portfolio into categories if you wanted to. For example: Celebrities, Books/Movies, etc. Also, I think you should merge the friends you have in your “loved” section in with the affiliates. It looks out of place and just another set of links. Other than that I can’t really find anything that isn’t neat or hard difficult to find.
Browser Compatibility I put your site in on BrowserShots. It looks alright in most browsers but there are a few where it is not being displayed at all. One has the header image missing as well. Refer to your coding to fix these errors. Often times you may need to validate your XHTML and CSS.
Content: All you have for content at the time moment is writing. You have various articles which is very nice but, might I suggest a bit more visitor content? One content category is not going to keep your visitors coming back for more. I suggest adding some other things.
As far as your articles go, I suggest capitalizing every word in each heading. For example, you’d make it “Website Related”. Words in headings are generally capitalized. This excludes, sometimes, words like the, as, and, etc. It might look more professional if you do this. You want them to look like headings, not blend in with the links. Also, capitalize all of the Poem titles because they are titles. One of them is not totally capitalized but should be. I’m sure you can figure out which one this is.
I like that you have interviews. I also have them. I think you should add more of them as you only have one. If you add more you can make it a separate section so that page is not cluttered with content and links. Add a few more at least. You could also add tutorials. Those are a wonderful thing to have. You seem to be great with Twitter. Perhaps you could add some Twitter tutorials because some people (ME) had a very difficult time learning how to use it.
I am not going to go through and read each of your articles, that would take far too long. I will, however, tell you that you should go back and read some of them because there are several small grammatical errors on a few of them.
While on your Owner page I encountered a few grammatical errors. Sorry, I’m nuts for them. For example: Hey, my name is Swetlana, you may already know that, and I was born 18th November 1989 in Pobotschina/Russia. I spend the first almost six years of my life…
It should be this: Hey! My name is Swetlana, but you may already know that. I was born on November 18th 1989 in Pobotschina, Russia. I spent the first six years of my life…
Also, I think you need to add a contact form. Nobody wants to pull open their email to contact owners of a site. I know first hand haha. Add a contact form. You have Wordpress, I see, so that should be quite easy. Get the plugin and go from there. It is Contact Form 7. It makes things much easier when someone needs to tell you something, report an error on your site, etc.
Overall, I give your site 3 Ice-Cream Cones. I think you need to add more to the site; this will keep your visitors coming back for more. You may apply for a re review after you have made changes if you’d like. Good job!
